They are my latest obsession.
I recently deleted FB, Tumblr and Twitter off of my phone in an attempt to trick myself into not using it quite so often. It worked in the sense that I don't frequent those sites as much anymore, but it didn't work in the fact that I just found other ways to throw my life away staring at that tiny screen. Enter: fashion vlogs.
For those of you unfamiliar with a vlog, it's like a blog except its a video instead of text/ images. Hence the "v". So there's a "v" at the beginning of the word instead of a "b" like in blog. Get it? It's a vlog, not a blog...
Anyhoo!
One wine-fueled Sunday night at my mom's house, I fell into that familiar dark chasm of YouTube videos and came out the other end a subscriber of a multitude of fashion vlogs that I hadn't even realized existed until that point. The fun part is that my subscriptions now take just as much time to keep up on as I used to spend browsing Facebook and Tumblr. Neat! Anyway, here are a few of my favorites:
This is Anna from the YouTube series Glitter + Lasers. It felt weird clicking on her link seeing as how I don't really need plus-sized shopping tips, but boy am I glad I did! First of all, she's hilarious and I want her to be my best friend. Second of all, she has really specific things to say about the articles of clothing that she buys and often times she will turn her favorite details into a song that will make you laugh your butt off. Below is her most popular video called "Sizing is the Worst" and she's right.
Next, is Annika Victoria who does a series called Make Thrift Buy. Her series does just that in an environmentally friendly, Millennial, Australian kind of way. Her style is adorable, her face is adorable, her videos are instructional and entertaining. Highly recommend. This is her most popular video called "DIY Light up Shoes".
Finally, is April from Coolirpa. April is not funny or very entertaining to watch but she is very skilled and clever. She also comes across as a bit of a perfectionist and does this annoying repetitive thing with her hands. Her most popular video is the one below but I would also recommend checking out "One Sweater 16 Ways to Wear it".
Okay so if this isn't your thing, whatever, but I enjoy them immensely. Bigly, even. They have that certain "covfefe" about them Oops! I just threw up in my mouth a little. Anyway, thanks fashion vlogs for entertaining me, enlightening me, and helping me to write this blog post!
I have never watched a fashion vlog. I must try it, but I do fear I'll fall down the rabbit hole. Fabulous gratitude post today! Here's mine: https://iheartpurplestuff.blogspot.com/2017/11/people-who-actually-love-me.html
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to check these vlogs out! I am grateful for burrowing owls staring angrily at me as I search for kit foxes and making my day even when it appears that I have ruined theirs!
